Our mission

Hearing care that puts you first

Hear & Co started with a simple idea: hearing care should be honest, personal and easy to reach. We work from a modern, purpose-fitted clinic, and we are independent, which means our hearing health care professionals recommend what suits your hearing, your lifestyle and your budget.

Whether you need a thorough wax removal or your first set of hearing aids, you will receive clear answers, fair pricing and the time you need to make a decision you feel good about. It’s a simple promise, and we keep it at every appointment.

Free for anyone 55 and over

Free hearing tests for anyone 55 and over

If you are 55 or older, your hearing test at Hear & Co is complimentary, with no obligation. Hearing changes slowly, so most people are not sure whether they have a problem. A test answers that question and any others you have. If your hearing is fine, you leave with a baseline for next time.

What happens during your hearing test

  1. We talk about your hearing, your health history and the situations where you find it hardest to follow a conversation.

  2. We look inside your ears. Sometimes the issue is simply wax, which we can remove during the same visit as a separate service.

  3. We check your middle ear for fluid or blockage.

  4. You listen to tones through earphones so we can determine the softest levels you can hear, and we conduct speech testing in quiet and in noise to understand your auditory system as a whole.

  5. We go through your results with you in plain language, on the screen in front of you, and provide our recommendations.

Not sure whether you need a test? Read the signs of hearing loss.

Everyone should have their hearing tested every two years, whatever their age. For adults under 55 the test is $55, credited back if hearing aids are purchased through our clinic.

Why people choose Hear & Co

  1. Independent advice

We work with six hearing aid manufacturers, not one. That means our recommendation is based on your hearing test results and your lifestyle.

  2. No charge if you are 55 or older

The test is thorough, the results are explained in detail, and there is no cost and no obligation.

  3. Hear for yourself before you decide

Try hearing aids in the clinic with a complimentary demo. You hear the difference in real conversation.

  4. State-of-the-art equipment and hearing aids

Testing in a sound-treated booth with equipment that examines the outer, middle and inner ear, results on a screen in front of you, and the latest technology in hearing aids from six manufacturers.

  5. Care that continues after the fitting

Every pair comes with a three-year manufacturer warranty, three years of loss insurance, three years of adjustments and programming, and clean and checks for the life of the hearing aid.

  6. Easy to get to

We are in a plaza with free parking at the entrance on Golf Links Road in Ancaster. We see people from all over, including Hamilton, Dundas, Stoney Creek, Waterdown, Burlington, Brantford and Caledonia.

Questions people ask us

Is the hearing test really free?

Yes. If you are 55 or older, the hearing test is complimentary, with no obligation. If you are under 55, a hearing test is $55, credited back if hearing aids are purchased through our clinic.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No. You can book a hearing test, a wax removal or a hearing aid demo directly with us.

What is a hearing instrument specialist?

A hearing instrument specialist is a hearing care professional certified by the Association of Hearing Instrument Practitioners of Ontario (AHIP), who tests hearing and fits, programs and services hearing aids. Our specialists work with adults with all degrees of hearing loss. If your test shows something that needs a physician's attention, we will tell you and fax your results to your doctor.

Do you remove ear wax?

Yes, and it is one of the most common reasons people visit us. We use three methods: irrigation, gentle suction and manual removal. We choose the method that suits your ears and the texture of the wax. Wax removal is a separate service with its own fee of $95 per session, whether we treat one ear or both.

Can I try hearing aids before I buy them?

Yes. Book a complimentary in-clinic demo, and you can hear the difference in real conversation before you make a decision.
